Taking on the task of judging the live sheep classes is Aberystwyth-based award winning butcher Robert Rattray.
Rob opened his own butchers shop in the town in 1991 and farms to supply the business, running a commercial flock of some 300 Texel Mules put to a Beltex tup alongside his own pedigree flock of 50 Beltex sheep.

“A champion lamb for me has to have a deep and well shaped gigot, a broad shoulder, full well rounded loin and a good covering of fat.”

His duties will also include adjudicating the Young Handlers – a task he’ll share with wife Sheila.

“Handlers should be confident in what they’re doing and be able to show the animal off at its best. I want someone whom I would be confident could show my own sheep in a ring.
