9.Y Ffarmers, Aberystwyth

Veteran food writer Elisabeth Luard is a long time resident of North Wales, and likes to head for her local, Y Ffarmers near Aberystwyth, “a local rural village pub selling local roast beef, lamb and pork with all the right trimmings and no sense of portion control.”  There are classic puds for afterwards, like apple and goosebery crumble with custard or chocolate brownie with Halen Môn salt caramel.  Owner Rhodri Edwards cooks and wife Esther Prytherch looks after the front of house, which has cosy log fires and good Welsh beers. No surprise that it’s very popular with locals on Sundays, so book ahead.
